Our Services

We offer a variety of editorial services with built-in flexibility to meet your needs. Every project is unique, and our services are customizable based on your content, goals, and budget. See below for more information about what we offer, and then reach out to us to discuss your specific project.

WRITING

We have written articles and books on a variety of topics, including food, cooking, travel, weddings, entertaining, home décor, interior design, human interest, business features, and personal profiles. We also have experience in writing marketing copy for your business website or product.

GHOSTWRITING

We are experienced ghostwriters who enjoy working on memoirs, cookbooks, and other nonfiction titles. Our process includes conducting interviews and research while working alongside you to get your story on the page. We stay true your voice and ease the pressure of needing to get it all done yourself. We help you to organize your story or project in a way that flows and is accessible to readers.

EDITING

We offer developmental editing (big idea editing) and copyediting/line editing (detailed editing). We can walk beside you in the writing process and provide editorial direction, or you can turn in your completed manuscript for review. The size of projects we take on varies from personal essays and resumes to full-length books.

BOOK PUBLISHING

We specialize in assisted self-publishing and hybrid publishing. This means that the author is the one making final decisions about the book but is assisted by the editorial firm. When your book is ready for publication, we can help you make the best decisions about e-books, print-on-demand options, and bulk ordering of books. We can also talk you through best practices for marketing and selling your book. Village Editorial does not offer traditional publication (i.e. book deals with advances and distribution), but we’re happy to help get your manuscript ready to send to publishers or agents with query letters.

CONSULTING

If you’ve got an idea for a book or have been working on a manuscript, we’d love to talk with you about what to do next. We can share our knowledge and help you determine the best way forward for your project. We’re here to help whether you’re simply gathering information before taking your next step or looking for intensive coaching throughout the writing process.

PROJECT MANAGING

For larger projects, we develop a timeline for your project and help you meet your goals of publication. We can gather and manage our network of photographers, stylists, art directors, graphic designers, copy editors, illustrators, and printers to shepherd your book from the idea phase to the final product.

1. Contact

If you review our services and feel like we might be a good fit for your project, fill out our form on the contact page. Tell us about what you’re working on and what services you’re interested in chatting with us about.

2. Consultation

After reviewing your submitted information, we’ll reach out to you about setting up an initial call or meeting. We’ll learn more about your project and discuss how we might be able to help you achieve your goals.

3. Proposal

Then, we’ll send you a tailored proposal with a scope of work, timeline, and cost estimate. We can walk you through the details of the proposal and what the process would look like.

4. Contract

When you’re ready, we’ll send you a contract. Once it’s signed, we’ll get to work on your project! We’re highly collaborative and believe in the power of working together throughout the process. We can’t wait to get started!

Book Publishing with Village Editorial

We have recently introduced our own imprint as an option for some of our clients. This means you can work with Village Editorial to print your books under our banner. Through our hybrid publishing model, you can retain the copyright to your book while Village Editorial serves as your publisher. This collaborative approach to publishing allows you to maintain control of your project and partner with a knowledgeable and supportive company throughout the editorial process. Would you like to be a beta reader or ARC reader for Village Editorial books?

If so, please fill out the form here.

Beta readers review books prior to publication and provide feedback to the author. ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) readers review books just before they are released and write reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, etc. for other potential readers. Readers receive complimentary copies of the books they would like to review, but no compensation is provided.
